Revellers smother Skippers
MANILA, Philippines — Jessie Collado and Christopher Bitoon combined in a pivotal fourth quarter surge as Che’Lu Bar and Grill thumped Marinerong Pilipino, 88-71, to bounce back in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig yesterday.
Collado and Bitoon scored 19 of the team’s 30 points in the final period as the Revelers broke away from a 58-57 count in the third and posted that 17-point romp in a big rebound to their 78-94 opening game setback to Centro Escolar University last week.
“We performed better compared to our first game because we lacked preparation. I talked to them after the loss and they responded well,” said Che’Lu Bar coach Stevenson Tiu.
Collado topscored with 20 points, Jeff Viernes added 14 markers, Jay-R Taganas contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds while Bitoon scored all but two of his 11 points in the fourth.
Robbie Manalang poured in 18 points, Trevis Jackson scored 16 while Jorey Napoles had 13 for the Skippers, who dropped to 1-1.
In the other match, Clark Derige took over in the fourth as Batangas-EAC shocked CEU, 96-90.
