Responders keep UNTV run, blast Boosters
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police overpowered Department of Justice, 90-59, to notch its fifth straight victory in the second UNTV Cup Executive Face-Off at the Pasig City Sports Center over the weekend.
The Responders pulled away in the second period to post a huge 46-25 lead at the turn then sustained their charge in the next half to complete the 31-point rout and extend their win run.
Joel de Mesa scattered 22 points to lead PNP while Philips Gil Philipps and Anthony Padua chipped in 18 and 11 points, respectively, in the event presented by UNTV through its president and CEO Daniel Razon.
The Responders also used their height and heft advantage to dominate the Boosters off the boards, 41-26.
Sharing the limelight with the PNP Responders was Special Assistant to the President Bong Go who erupted for a conference-high 44 points in the team’s 105-79 romp over the GSIS Furies.
